Dataset title Phenological time lapse images and data from Monimet EU Life+ project (LIFE12 ENV/FI/000409)

Description The data set contains phenological time lapse images from a network of digital surveillance cameras for automated monitoring of phenological activity of vegetation and snow cover at 14 sites in boreal ecosystems of Finland. For each site 1-3 cameras were installed. Each data record holds time series of camera images for one camera covering the period 2014 to 2017 or parts of it.

Data processing steps sampling
Description Cameras were set to fixed white balance and automatic exposure. Where feasible, cameras were installed with northward viewing direction. Images have equal spatial resolution throughout the time series and are taken half-hourly, excluding night hours. Images were mostly acquired with StarDotNetCam SC5 camera; except for one site (Paljakka) for which an AXIS P1357E camera was used. Pixel digital numbers are not comparable between cameras. Selected cameras have grey reference panels to monitor stability of the colour reproduction of cameras.
