Dataset title Greenhouse gas net emissions of lakes in Kokemäenjoki river basin. Calculated for Syke regional compilation of GHG net emissions related to land use
Theme Environment and Conservation
Description The greenhouse gas (GHG) budget estimations for lakes presents the estimated CO2 equivalent for lakes and per square meter in in the Kokemäenjoki watershed. Coefficients for the River GHG calculations were first derived from the Kortelainen et al. (2006), Bastviken et al. (2004) and Juutinen et al. (2009), and also used in the Luonnikas GHG calculation tool presented in the Haaspuro (2013). Result data set is a spatial shapefile that is published as a web map service. Results are based on utilizing existing national GIS data sets on lakes to which GHG calculation formulas and coefficients are applied according to references listed below. Data set thus does not have exact time span which it represents, but it is based on the aforesaid data and can be further evolved according to the new published scientific work. Description Lakes for the Kokemäenjoki watershed were selected from national Shoreline10 (Ranta10) and River network data set by Syke (http://metatieto.ymparisto.fi:8080/geoportal/catalog/search/resource/details.page?uuid=%7BCED8AC3C-0651-4117-88A6-44CD05F6B42D%7D). Calculation was based on on the lake surface area and formulas as well as co-efficients presented in the references listed in the data description.
